Key Responsibilities of the Food Service Assistant:
As a Food Service Assistant, you will:
- Ensure a high level of customer service within the kitchen and dining areas.
- Complete checklists to guarantee food safety and hygiene standards.
- Assist with meal preparation and cooking.
- Clean and maintain catering equipment, leaving premises spotless after each shift.
- Communicate any customer feedback or complaints to the team leader.
- Research and stay updated on the latest catering trends to help Icebolethu remain competitive in the market.
Your role will involve a variety of tasks, from assisting with cooking to maintaining hygiene standards, ensuring a smooth flow of operations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following:
- Minimum Qualification: Grade 12
- Relevant Qualification: A qualification in hospitality or catering or currently studying towards one.
- Experience: Minimum of 12 months working in the catering industry.
- Driver’s License & Vehicle: Having a valid driver’s license and access to your own vehicle will be advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
- Passion for the food service industry.
- Ability to work methodically and safely.
- Honest, reliable, and strong communication skills.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and excellent personal hygiene.
- Ability to work as part of a team, lift and stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to travel and work as job demands.
