When Will I Know If My R350 Grant Appeal Was Approved?
Applicants for Social Relief of Distress grants who have already submitted their application appeals may be curious about how they will hear from Sassa. The procedure is carried out as follows:
The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is currently being distributed to eligible applicants for the current month by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa). However, the organization has also added a fresh appeals procedure, allowing applicants to make sure they get the grant.
The Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance (ITSAA) oversees the new R350 grant appeals, which are only available to recipients of SRD grants.
In terms of how long you will have to wait to learn the results of your appeal application, Sassa has stated that the Independent Tribunal will notify you electronically of the results of your appeal within a period of 60 to 90 days following the filing of the appeal.
How To Submit R350 Grant Appeal Under New Rules:
- Visit srd.dsd.gov.za
- Click on the green bar that says ‘click here to lodge an appeal or check appeal status’
- Enter your ID number
- Enter your cell phone number
- Click ‘send pin’ and wait for the SMS which will contain the verification pin
- Enter the pin and click ‘submit‘
- Select the month you are submitting an appeal for
- Select the drop down arrow and choose the reason for your appeal
- Click ‘submit‘
This, according to Sassa, applies to all appeals from April 2022 and onwards. Even if the applicant has submitted an appeal prior to this period on the old SRD website, Sassa requires applicants to appeal again on the new website.
The ITSAA merged its procedures with those of Sassa, which then resulted in a minimal appeals process because the tribunal already has data from Sassa. This means the tribunal will be handling these appeals and Sassa has confirmed that it will be assessing all the other appeals for months before April 2022, with hopes to finalise all appeals by August 2022.
